Fonds Wassenaar was established on October 9, 2019 to stimulate initiatives of local citizens and organizations by offering funding. Through this financial support, Fonds Wassenaar aims to promote the well-being of vulnerable people in our municipality and improve the quality of life in Wassenaar in general. In particular, we do this by supporting initiatives that are innovative and have a meaningful impact.
Social cohesion in Wassenaar has declined since the Second World War. The role of the church and local clubs has been declining. More and more residents risk becoming socially isolated. It is important that Wassenaar residents stay connected to each other and that there is funding to organize joint activities.
Fonds Wassenaar is an independent non-profit foundation, which is overseen by its board. The foundation’s board is responsible for both fundraising and allocation of funds. The board publicly communicates how this is done through its annual report, which can be found on the website. In addition, the board clearly publishes goals to be pursued and reports on their implementation through a policy statement, ensuring transparency to the outside world.
Our mission
Fonds Wassenaar enables organizations and residents of Wassenaar to realize their goals for the betterment of our community. Foundations, associations and residents’ initiatives can submit an application for funding. It is the objective of Fonds Wassenaar to support and advise residents on initiatives that benefit our community. Our mission is to be accessible, efficient and independent. At the same time, Fonds Wassenaar wants to connect with all (existing) local organizations and stimulate cultural and social initiatives.
